| BLACKBIRDS came into being in 2005 in Chicago, when Mike Slajchert decided he needed a recording partner to sweeten the mix. As a teacher, he was able to snag an ex-student Claire Hellige, who he had heard in many student performances and thought have a lot of potential. Mike has been playing in the Chicago area for 30+ years in bands and as a solo, and returned to recording after a long absence. He plays mostly benefits now, particularly for fighting AIDS in Rwanda, and Claire has been able to join him lately, as she is home for summer break from St. Louis University. |
