Carl Schonbeck (born in Boston Ma. 1964) is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, bassist and producer who records and performs in a number of different musical styles. He currently lives in Milan, Italy.
Carl began his career playing in bar bands around New England in the 1980s. In 1990 he moved to Italy and began backing up several artists on Milan's Voxpop label while recording home demos of original material. In 1998 he composed instrumental music for the popular Italian television program "Le Iene" and two years later began to correspond with Grammy-winning producer Scott Mathews. This led to Scott producing Carl's debut record "Tough Love" (2004). A critically acclaimed blend of New Wave and American roots music elements, the record features standout tracks such as "Sponge", "Jack Webb" and "Simona Surfs Nude". In 2007 Carl released his second album, the self-produced "Voxpopped". An all-instrumental record featuring a number of styles, it will be out on i-Tunes 6 May. |
