| It all started with me and my old Amiga computer, a few ’demo of the month’ acclaims in Music Technology magazine (long gone) and then Future music and Melody maker featured my little ditties! (more info)

Obsessed with Kraftwerk, fellow fan and all round great man Staggman let me use his programming room up in Manchester’s Out of the blue studio (also now gone I believe). This resulted in the Tanzmusik e.p and released on Nice and Nasty Records thanks to Desy Balmer.
Then I met up with Pascal Gabriel, the world’s coolest Belgian and successful producer/writer, who then introduced me to Claudia Brucken (of obscure 80s band Propaganda)(we are at 1993 now...keep up!). We worked by post on a demo called ’Play along’. I finally met Claudia in 1999, I then met up with Paul Humphreys (of 80s band OMD) and did a cover of Bowie’s ’This is not america’ with him and Claudia, which also featured Paul Rutherford of Frankie Goes to Hollywood on backing vocals. Back tracking a little, I met up with Holly Johnson, also of Frankie Goes to Hollywood and great solo work...back to the now...I co-wrote ELEMENT OF TRUTH and SIGNALS on the Item E.P as well as programming on all other tracks. I also co-wrote THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING PART 1 and PART 2 (including some lyrics...most of the first verse ’No beginning without ending’ etc) on the ’Instead album’. As well as programming on CLOUD NINE (featuring Martin Gore of Depeche Mode) and of course I am the co-writer of SIGNALS..
I have been making music since 1988 or so. Sometimes under the name ’Teknik’, sometimes under ’Joneuro’, but now ’Jonteknik’. My earlier solo works had many influences. Some dance moby-esque pieces came into fruition, and some mellow hypnotic pieces edged their way into form. I have selected the best of this period and remastered them (24 bit). ’’Tones from home (1994-1999)" is a new compilation of 12 tracks from Jonteknik. It replaces the compliation ’Forever Endeavour’. |
