| An aging rocker with a love of music in many genres. I perform and record under the name "Self Tort". My originals cover a wide range of styles, including rock, pop, funk, ballads, country, jazz, blues and even "kids' songs". (more info)

I live in Sydney, Australia and am married with 2 kids aged 24 and 21. I played lead guitar in a band called "Sirrah" in Sydney during the 70s. Marriage and employment led to the band breaking up and for many years I just dabbled around at home on my keyboards and guitars writing the occasional song but without any outlet for them. Formed a band by accident in the 90s when my kids' P&C Association had a function coming up but had no money for a band. Put an ad in the school newsletter to see if anyone was interested in a "pick up" band and "Mid Life Crisis" was born. When time and work made it impossible for that band to continue I decided to go solo as a "one man band".
Have been playing a regular gig at the Mortdale Hotel in southern Sydney for the last 7 years and elsewhere as booked. Am a member of the Songwriting Society of Australia and perform regular acoustic sets with that society.
I have completed a number of collaborations with other artists over the internet, including Alexis Van Eeckhout, Lex Zaleta, Rob Favre, East Meets West, James David Knight and Keith Trimm.
Released my debut CD "N.I.C" in March, 2006 and am in the process of recording the second CD together with a CD of collaborations with Lex Zaleta.
By day I am a barrister (lawyer/advocate) in my own practice in Sydney. Dreaming to give it up to purue music full time, but it's just a dream.
