As a schoolboy in Scotland, I loved this little gem as typical Robert Burns…a serene, thoughtful and happy story of two long lives. Today, it's appeal is more personal.
The 'Guidewife', here, is reminding her husband of the many 'Canty', (happy) days they have spent together. The future too, they will meet 'hand-in-hand'.
The music is original, (as far as I'm aware) and comments as always are welcome.
John Anderson. ( Robt Burns)
John Anderson my jo’ John,
When we were first aquaint’,
Your locks were like the raven’
Your bonnie brow was brent; (smooth)
But now your brow is bald, John,
Your locks are like the snaw;
But blessings on your frosty pow,
John Anderson my jo.

Now we maun totter down, John,
