micthewhorld_mhmprodlogo1red.JPG 		Patrick McCarthy walked in to Bube’s Brewery in Mount Joy, PA on Thursday, January 24, 2008 with his guitar. Open Mic night at Bube’s this night was a special one. Three tons of sand covered the floor and I was setting up to host. I carried my guitar and an assortment of mics and a Korg D3200 32 track recorder! Sand was everywhere. My technical head said don’t do it. My creative mind said… DO IT! So here it is. The first official installment of Bube’s On BonXo.Com. I ran the mics and DI’s directly to the Korg and sent a stereo line out to the house PA. This way it gave me some real recording control over the mix and I sat FOH (Front Of House) which is unusual for any open mic night, and used my headphones to get a good mix. I confess there’s a few bugs to work out but it was worth putting up with the sand. Later a couple bus loads of Elizabethtown College students showed up. I was informed it was college night this night so the joint was packed wall to wall. Needless to say it was a great night. Patrick took command of the stage and although I wanted him to “sit” and play he decided he felt better standing. I set the stage plot to accommodate up to three performers and it seemed critical to have the mics low to avoid the dreaded feedback from the mains. I managed to arrange with the owner of Bube’s to have the first Monday of each month set aside for Bube’s On BonXo.Com. The plan is to offer the opportunity to actually do quality multi-track recording in a public venue! Although not all recordings will be multi-tracked of course) the mix will post here on Bonxo about a week later. This may turn out to be an exciting way to feature some interesting creative energy.
