Showcasing their credo to create exciting Glam/Punk, the EP has enjoyed a host of favourable reviews. Ex-Radio1 DJ and Music T.V presenter Mark Radcliffe hailed it as ‘a really exciting sound from a lean, stripped down outfit’. LosingToday, once they had gotten past hammering the CD on their hi-fi, said ‘{SR / SS] is frankly so bloody good that I suspect in certain territories its illegal... more of a threat than a punter pulling support slot luxury...Consider yourselves well and truly ones to watch out for.'
The Deodates also secured a feature on BBC Manchester Great Unheard where it was remarked that the music possesses a ‘tight yet tattered splendour’ and that ‘The Deodates are a very exciting proposition’. The EP also received 4/5 and Demo of the Month for September from High Voltage, summarising its impact as a ‘formidable, grinding punch’.
The duo have fared well in the live arena too with manchestermusic.co.uk stating ‘Every track's well-loaded with hooks and the performance is stuffed full of authentic passion.’ Subba-Cultcha.com detected The Deodates intentions remarking that they are ‘not here to dwell on Manchester’s self proceeding reputation…they’re undoubtedly more interested in what is rather than what was’.
Work is now geared toward securing management and representation to give their music the greater platform and exposure that it deserves, and a single release is planned for the near future.
The Deodates acknowledge the legacy of their hometown, and hearts and minds must march forward and give the area something to answer for again.
